This is effective to mention about the concerning minimum wage and overtime wages that had been a consisting issue of debate in the United States. I would like to focus on the aspect that the proponents of raising the minimum wage have often argued that it would help to reduce poverty and stimulating economic growth. In this prospect it is effective to mention that many workers who are paid minimum wages struggle to make ends meet and may rely on the government assistance program to supplement their income. Raising the minimum wage can also reduce the need for such programs as well as improve the standard of living for the low wage workers. In addition to this, it is effective to argue that when the low wage workers will have more money to spend, they tend to spend it in their local communities which can stimulate the economic growth (Yan et al., 2019). It has been found that the employees who earn more than a certain amount for year are exempted from the overtime requirements.
