Introduction

Development of the welfare state can be regarded as one of the most positive achievement of
the century. There had been increasing number of problems such as poverty, lowering
standard of living, proper food etc for the individuals in the regions; welfare state initiatives
helped in providing minimum living requirements to the people of the state. This essay has
een written with the objective of understanding the concept of welfare state, the factors
ehind welfare state, the reasons that led to reform in 1980 etc. This essay will emphasise on
