New Server Training & Development Plan

Objective:

As the training coordinator, I have been tasked with creating a training and development program for newly hired servers at a high-end restaurant.

A mentoring team will be assigned as part of the training. This is done to highlight distinct service styles and personalities. Teams are put together to complement one another.

Training Plan will include:

Orientation and onboarding

All mandatory training will be onsite

Formal active training (in person with a mentoring team) instruction

Read policies, formal table setting layout, finished plates, and menu instruction

On the job and paid

Cross training opportunities

Customer service skills

Problem-solving techniques

Food handling and safety

Workplace safety

Plan will last approximately two weeks, based on trainee needs

Evaluation:

New employees will be evaluated periodically during the training process by restaurant managers. This will allow both the employee and managers to get different perspectives on how the training is going. All participants are welcome to suggest any improvements that need to be made to the plan going forward.

Employees need to have a practical experience in using PPE, handling hazardous chemicals, and responding to emergency situations. You can consider adding a simulation exercise that mimics a real-life situation to evaluate how the employees respond to emergency procedures. Secondly, I recommend that you include a case study or scenario-based training that can make employees more aware of the hazards and risks associated with the manufacturing process. For example, you can use a video that showcases the devastating effects of not following proper safety procedures. Lastly, I recommend that you include a...
