Introduction
Nepal is a land of Brahmans and Chetri castes which accounts for almost 80% of Nepal’s population. It is situated in the foot of the Himalayas or the Mount Everest. Nepal has a total population of more than 30 million. Its capital is Kathmandu and the local language is Nepalese. Nepal has a literacy rate of 45% and the religions followed by the people of Nepal are Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. The various industries on which Nepal depends upon are Tourism, agriculture and textile. With the decline of the monarch in the year 2008, Nepal became a federal state ruled partially by Nepal congress and by the communist party of Nepal. Due to the civil war in Nepal which ended after a decade in 2006, Nepal’s economy was destroyed and ruined. And the present government ruled by congress and the communist kept on fighting for their own rights and interest leading Nepal economy to situation of destruction. This has also led to increase in various political discrimination, nepotism and criminal activities in Nepal since 2006 onwards. We are here to discuss on each of the co
uptions issues and how they can be resolved by the government to uplift the culture, reputation and future of Nepal and its deprived people.
Forms of Co
uptions in Nepal
Nepal has witness and still witnessing different forms of co
uptions. Below are the areas which are extremely significant. Any forms of co
uption and nepotism must be eradicated by the government of Nepal for their future progress.
1. Caste System and treatment towards Dalits:
Nepal is a purely Hindu orthodox Brahmin based society who believes in caste system. They divide their society based on lower and upper castes. The lower castes are treated as untouchables and are deba
ed and discriminated in terms of ma
iage, religious practices, access to land and rights to education. They are called ‘Untouchable’. They are abused in every spheres of life in Nepal. The rate of discrimination against dalits in Nepal is around 15%. The dalits in Nepal as a result tie themselves to Maoist activism for their survival which subsequently leads themselves to be killed by the government security forces.
The dalits are also deba
ed of sound health facilities, food, water and public services. Hence their mortality rate is extremely high. There are rules by the government for protecting and uplifting the lives of the poor and the lower classes of Nepal but due to nepotism and co
uption among the government officials no proper measurements are taken.
