Please don't reference any other source than the case provided and the eight steps to ethical decision making found in your textbook. I want you to pretend you are back in 1973 and to applythe Eight-Step Modelfor your case analysis. You work for Ford Motor Co. as the recall coordinator. Field reports are coming in about rear-end collisions, fires, and fatalities, and you are responsible for deciding whether to recall the automobile. As recall coordinator, you know the fervency with which Lee Iacocca got this car to market. Also keep in mind that this is 1973, and safety isn't as big of a concern as it is today.

Case Analysis Using the Eight-Step Model
Ford Motor Co. has always been at the heights of automobile industry due to its innovative designs and safety feature. However, due to some uncertain reasons there have been increased cases of fires, fatalities, rear end collisions from the field. Due to being the recall coordinator of the company, these cases has now left me in a dilemma of whether or not to recall the automobile (Chapter 2).
In order to make a strong decision, I will apply the 8-step model, which will allow me to analyze the situation at each step. Gathering of facts, ethical issue analysis, affected parties, consequences, obligations, character, and creativity are some of the aspects based upon which a decision will be made which will be either in favor or against the recall of automobile.
Step One: Gather the Facts
Decision making process needs to strong as well as backed up by some fact that is a strong decision stands on the pillar of facts. This is majorly because of the fact that analysis of associated facts allows to interpret and identify every possibility that could have led to the situation. Reaching directly towards the solution without considering the facts is mundane and must be avoided because it can lead to a biased judgment, which is not acceptable in business. It is necessary to understand the limitations that comes with the responsibility of decision making and therefore collecting every possible associated fact can help to smoothen up the process (Chapter 2).
Numerous facts can be segregated from the case study as—
· Increased cases of rear end collisions, fatalities, and fires.
· Actual reasons behind the events are not known.
· Lee Iacocca’s strong feelings and emotions associated with the launch of this vehicle.
· More importantly, it is 1973 and safety is not much of concern.
Lee Iacocca has a great attachment with this vehicle and being the recall manager, I know that Lee was so excited, passionate and happy with the release of this vehicle. However, it cannot be neglected that the actual reasons behind all the causalities are not known since, these could have occu
ed due to driver’s mistakes.
Further, it can also not be neglected that all the reported causalities involves the same automobile, which can direct us to the point that there can be some issues with the car. Further, information regarding the locations of causalities as well the handling of vehicle is not known.
Step Two: Define the Ethical Issues
Decision making can be really tough especially when ethical issues are associated with it and this is majorly due to the fact that ethical issues leaves the individual in the dilemma of whether to choose business or to choose morale. It is not necessary that a decision-making may deal with only one or two ethical issues; instead, decision-making like the cu
ent one can have multiple associated ethical issues. These vary with the views of involves individuals or entities and therefore the decision needs to be made with a justice perspective (Chapter 2).

ent scenario presents number of ethical issues such as, risk associated with the life of consumers, emotions of Lee associated with the automobile, road safety and loss of company.
Consequentialist Perspective: If I recall the automobile, it will cause a great loss to the company, will effect Lee and his passion badly, can cause loss of consumer’s faith on company. While, if I do not recall it, there are chances of more death, fatalities and accidents. Company will attain its profit however, due to increased fatalities there can be some legal action from government.
Deontological Perspective. Recalling the automobile may prevent the accidents and fatalities, which is a right decision. However, company will suffer from a great loss due to this, which is wrong. Moreover, if I do not recall it, company will continue to make profit with sustained consumers, which is right; however, it can cause more accidents and death due to automobile collision, which is wrong (Chapter 2).
