Silicon Valley until very recently had ca
ied an image of “the old (white) boys club”, which means a place predominantly of white-males. As mentioned by Flory, Lei
andt, Rott and Stoddard (2021), there are several reasons of these pictures. The foremost reasons extended by the companies were the access to high qualification. The technology industry requires engineers with specific specialization and this is the first priority during recruitment.
Women were said to be opting out of subjects of technology, science and mathematics during the higher education. It was also believed that minority communities including colored population had very less access to such quality education. Lack of cultural acceptance and inclusion, existence of prejudice and discrimination has made is challenging for the minority to be participative and continue employment in such environment.
