In this case study, it can be analysed that food safety and efficiency are their primary concerns and the measures that could be taken to solve the significant challenges they are facing. As mentioned by Leal Filho et al. (2018), the significant challenges SDGs are facing in maintaining the food safety. Some of them are as follows:
· Changes in our food production and supply
· Greater reliance on foreign imports
· Changes in the environment that result in food contamination
· More accurate identification of multistate epidemics
· Toxins, new and developing bacteria and antibiotic resistance
· Changes in consumer preferences and behaviours
Analysis and Connection between Concepts
Food safety and efficiency are two complementary components of our sustainable future. According to the case study, it has been analysed that trade-offs between food safety and efficiency must be addressed carefully and based on data. Food safety and security are two complementary aspects of our long-term viability. As informed by Morse et al. (2018), to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, we need new solutions for future food security and sustainability that do not jeopardise food safety.
