Introduction
Health Care Industry of India presents lucrative growth opportunities for the
organizations expecting to establish themselves in Indian healthcare industry. With
an average and sustainable GDP growth rate and opportunity to expand market
each to almost 1.2 billion potential customers, healthcare industry projects a
profitable and high growth prospect. Rising cases of patients with infectious and non-
communicable diseases are causing additional burden and new challenge for the
Indian Healthcare system. In order to make the Indian health care system more
influential and responsive it is needed to incorporate certain strategic changes in
overall system. To identify and assess such change requirement a comprehensive
analysis of the Indian Healthcare System has been made in the paper, which

analysis for Indian healthcare system and its comparison with US healthcare system,
characteristic components (consumers, payers, providers and regulatory policies) of
oth countries systems and examination of role played by India and US in each

expenditure. It has been observed that private and public companies cover a small
minority of populations and majority of population adopts self-funding methods to
meet medical expenses and usually not been covered under universal healthcare
