Human resource planning is an essential process of the ca
ying the business operations with higher effectiveness and efficiency. Human resource planning is a continuous process, whose intended purpose is to make optimal use of the most valuable resources available with the organisations i.e. the human resources (Akey et al., 2017). Human resource planning is an ongoing process to fulfill the human resource requirements of an organisation while avoiding work force shortages of surpluses (Ahmad, 2019). This is a cyclical process because the employees are required to go through a number of stages while their employment in the company and since, every new hiring has to go through all these stages it becomes ongoing as well. The stages of the cyclical process have been identified as:
· Analysing the existing human resources
· Forecasting the demand to fulfil the human resource requirements by attracting and recruiting eligible candidates (Baron, 2016)
· Balancing the supply and demand of human resources through on boarding and enablement
· Supporting organisational goals through development and retention of human resources till they separate from the organisation
The planning process should be cyclical and ongoing because it is essential to forecast the human resource demands of the organisation. Delays in forecasting may lead to shortage of human resources and thus the organisation might not achieve its goals and objectives in the set timeframe. On the other hand, overestimation may lead to employee surplus creating an overhead cost for the organisation. It is vital to create a balance between the demand and supply of human resources by analysing the existing resources and forecasting the demands. Moreover, the HR planning must also focus on the development, engagement and retention of employees to ensure that the cycle need not be repeated frequently and thus saving a lot of cost for the business organisation.
Question 2 Week 8: Tutorial 7
Career development programs provide effective pathways to the manager working within an organisation in achieving the organisational goals and objectives and to meet the dynamic needs of the organisation in the changing business environment. These programs are becoming essential for the organisations because these programs assist managers in leading their teams and assist in improving the overall performance of the organisation (Bagdadli & Gianecchini, 2019). Career development programs have been assisting managers in the following ways:
· A Career development program helps managers to improve and upgrade their skills to manage their own career and to fulfil their aspirations.
· These are useful in fostering communication between the managers and their people.
· These programs help to understand the competencies, skills and aspirations of the employees, thus helping the people to align their objectives with that of the organisation.
· It helps to plan the promotion of employees because of their career graph leading productive appraisal systems.
· These programs assist managers in identifying the hidden talent of their subordinates and use it for achieving the organisational goals.
These programs help employees to reach proactively in the following ways:
· The programs have been providing the people or the employees with the guidance and assistance to make efficient career decisions
· These programs help the employees to establish achievable goals and objectives and be flexible to the dynamic...
