Organizational Challenges faced by Riverwood Integrated Logistics
I am very pleased that you sought for our services. I am equally pleased to present you the business report about your organization “Riverwood”. Though, the interaction with CEO Syafig Yussoff proved to be a very engaging process and helped to discover a lot of things about the company’s mission, vision and his management style, however there is not enough information available about it on web. Though, I mustered data from many secondary sources available on web, however I felt that better overview about their financial plans, balance sheets and greater press coverage would have been better. Since, it is a relatively new company, and has not faced any major operational crisis yet, it is hard to gauge how effective Yussoff’s management’s practices are. I feel that there has not been any litmus test for the company yet, and if there has been, it did not get press coverage so that it becomes public.

Introduction
Riverwood is a fast growing logistics company that was established only seven years ago in 2011. Since, then the company has managed to bag some of the most prestigious clients of domestic as well as international market such as Singapore Post, DHL, and now Amazon Prime. The success of Riverwood is indeed stupendous and is largely noteworthy because it was single handedly conceived by its CEO Syafig Yussoff. He has time and again mentioned that he does not have great academic specs but he always had the desire to work hard and adapt to the growing needs and demands of the ever-changing customer preference and choices.
In the year 2011, when he was still struggling with his academic needs owing to financial uncertainty, he realized that the e-commerce is going to be the next big thing in the world, and he established a small logistics company with handful of employees. As of today, it has grown into a full-fledged business that employs over 200 employees (Loong, 2017).
However, within a record time of seven years, the company managed to make its presence felt in the domestic as well as international arena by adding many prestigious names in its client’s portfolio and with Amazon declaring Riverwood as its prime delivery partner; the
and got further boost and impetus to its growing credentials (Hardaslamani, 2017).
This business report is aimed at further shedding light on the different challenges that the Riverwood faces as of now. Though, it can be safely said that the company is on an upward trajectory and has been making great strides in different spheres of logistics such as freight, ecommerce etc, however it is undeniable that the logistics industry is also consistently changing and so do the demands and needs of the other business, hence it is imperative to study, analyze and evaluate the challenges that the organization might be cu
ently facing or the problems that might arise in future, if the present challenges go unnoticed.
Internal and External Organizational Analysis
SWOT (Internal + External)
Strength: The Company has managed to come so far within such a record time is due to the good word-of-mouth advertisement of the
and. It shows that the company has a good reputation and goodwill and is recommended by its clients to others. Furthermore, it has been consistent endeavor of the company to foster personal relationship with their clients. The ability to develop personal relationship with clients gives the company a much needed economic advantage as it helps them to building long-term partnership with their customers. Moreover, the company realized the significance of Information Technology quite early in their operations; hence they enrolled all their employees in IT programs to learn the finer nuances of delivery management system and developed their own delivery system (Loong , 2017). Thus, the company believes in employing technology to leverage its operations and makes proactive steps to adopt the benefits of technology.
Weakness: Though, the company has a employee fleet of about 200 workers, however given the scale of its operations, it is not sufficient. Recently, it has been hired as the primary delivery partners for Amazon Prime Now in Singapore that would add a lot of pressure to the delivery management system as it is extremely demanding and there is huge time constraints. Recently, Amazon had to stop taking new orders for Amazon prime Now as Amazon could not fulfill it’s the tremendous and unprecedented footfall of orders (Hardaslwani, 2017). This evidently shows that Riverwood needs to work more to increase its man-force in order to meet the growing demands. Furthermore, If Riverwood takes too much work responsibility and does not manage to do a satisfactory job; it can tarnish its good reputation as well.
Opportunities: Singapore is ranked number one in terms of logistics services in the world and its strategic positions as an island nation in the south-eastern region of the world gives its considerable advantage in the field of international logistics and freight services, naturally, this is a sound and healthy environment for Riverwood to thrive in. It can benefit from the growing significance of Singapore as strategic player in trans-global shipment services. Furthermore, the logistic industry is poised to grow at a good and steady rate in Singapore and the $42-million Logistics and Transportation Productivity road map developed by Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) is further aimed to boost supply chain management expertise of Singaporean logistics companies (Boon, 2017). Riverwood can benefit from these recent developments if they devise a proper strategy to channel these resources in their favor.
Threats: The CEO of Riverwood mentioned that he wishes to expand its services to Indonesia as well as China in the next five years. Both these countries are highly populated and can be seen as a good market for logistical ambition of the company but penetrating into these new markets would not be easy, it needs to analyze the existing situation and government laws and tariffs in these countries to draw a better picture of the investment needs and requirements....
