You will investigate the science of an area of Protein Technologies of your choosing.Note that this assignment is separate from your Protein Investigation Project. Here you explore a methodology/technology (e.g., ELISA, Flow Cytometry, NMR, X-ray crystallography, spectroscopy) used for the study of proteins.

In this assignment you will record a video presentation with visual aids (e.g. powerpoint/animations/drawings) to explain theory and application of a specific technique used to study proteins. In your presentation you should:

  • Introduce yourself and your topic
  • Describe the basic process and the science behind a technique used for the investigation of proteins
  • What does the technique show about the structure and/or function of proteins
  • How is the data obtained and interpreted (provide at least one example case from the literature - you can use any protein including the one you are studying for your Protein Investigation Project)
  • Provide an example of an alternative technique and how it compares to your selected technique

Your video should be no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes and uploaded to Canvas as an MP4 or MOV type file.

Some outstanding examples of video presentations from previous Protein Technologies students are provided below:

Slide1:
Hi Everyone,
My self
Today I am here to discuss about the Flow cytometry and how it is different from the Spectroscopy technique.
Flow cytometry is an instrument which is a laser-based technique used to analyse the expression of cells or particles. In proteomics application this technique is used to detect the proteins or ligands which are labelled with fluorescent dyes.
It is used for both qualitative and quantative applications to study the characteristics of cells or particles.
This technique is used to analyse size, granularity and fluorescence intensity of the particles or cells.
Slide 2: Flow cytometry Principle
The principle of this instrument is based on the measurement of light scattered by the particles and the fluorescence abso
ed when the particles are passed through range of laser beam to analyse both physical and chemical properties.
This is the graphical representation of how the Flow cytometer works
Slide 3: Working Mechanism of Flow Cytometer
In the first step, chose the sample which need to be analyzed. In the second step, the sample is labelled by using fluorescent dye. Next the cells of the sample are exposed to laser beam in a fluidic system and the...
