Introduction 
Correctional industries are committed to maintain and expand offender work training or 
teaching programs for providing the real world work experiences to inmates, transfer marketable 
job skills and work ethics to help them prepare for employment (National Correctional Industries 
Association, 2013). This paper describes three major issues that are facing by corrections in 
recent time. It also explains three goals of punishment and reformation of inmates.  
Thesis Statement: 
The main purpose of this paper could also be clear with a thesis statement: 
"The success of a correction depends on its correctional institutes and it is essential for 
institutes to deal with the major issue as without this it would not be able to ability to improve 
skills and knowledge of correction .” 
Major Issues Facing Corrections 
In now a days, corrections industry is facing various issues. These are given below: 
Lack of innovation: Lack of innovation is a major problem in the correctional industry. A 
lot of problems generate without innovation in the industry. So the industry should develop new 
product and services with new ideas in order to attract the customer (Minor, Ruddell & 
Matthews, 2007). The historical development of this issue raised in the correction with the 
introduction of new technology. This issue arises due to poor economy that has a great impact on 
the society in different ways. 
Limited collaboration: The second issue that is facing corrections is limited collaboration.
