Use the data set
jobsatisfaction.xlsx
to answer the questions for this assignment. The data set includes job satisfaction measures and potential covariates for social workers in Israel. It comes from the work of Abu-Bader, S. H XXXXXXXXXXWork Satisfaction, burnout, and turnover among social workers in Israel: A Causal Diagram. International Journal of Social Welfare 9, XXXXXXXXXX.

A full description of all the variables is given in a separate document:
Codebook for Job Satisfaction Data Set.

For each prompt, show a scatterplot of the relationship between the two variables that includes a trendline, compute the Pearson Linear Correlation Coefficient and estimate a simple linear regression for the two variables in the question and use these results to answer the prompt. Include in your answers a hypothesis test on the appropriate regression coefficient. Therefore, every answer should include the following:

  • Start by identifying which is the dependent variable (y) and which is the independent variable (x) where the value of y depends on the value of x

  • Scatterplot of the two variables that includes a trendline Note: put (y) on vertical axis

  • Report of the Pearson Linear Correlation Coefficient value

  • An interpretation of the magnitude of the Pearson Linear Correlation Coefficient

  • The equation of the regression line

  • Null and alternative hypotheses for the hypothesis test on the coefficient for x (but not for coefficient for constant)

  • Show the Excel output for the regression analysis

  • Identify the x coefficient value and the p-value

  • Report the conclusion to either “fail to reject the null hypothesis” or "reject the null hypothesis”

  • Give a plain English conclusion to the statistical test that answers the plain English question in the prompt.

  1. Is there evidence of a relationship between satisfaction with one’s supervisors and overall job satisfaction? If so, is the relationship positive or negative? Is this what you would expect?

  2. Is there evidence of a relationship between satisfaction with one’s colleagues and overall job satisfaction? If so, is the relationship positive or negative? Is this what you would expect?

  3. Is there evidence of a relationship between satisfaction with one’s salary and overall job satisfaction? If so, is the relationship positive or negative? Is this what you would expect?
