Factors Influencing Death of Microorganisms (MO):
Mainly there are two major factors are involved in the killing of microorganisms. These are i)
Growth environmental Factor and ii) Host body factors
Growth environment factors: Microorganisms grow in a specific environment which enables
them to complete their life cycle. Simple changes in growth conditions can result in killing of
these organisms (Willey & Woolverton, 2012). Some points are discussed below.
ï‚· Presence/absence of Oxygen: Some microorganisms are anaerobic and some
aerobic.Presence of oxygen hampers with the electron transport system and kills
anaerobic MOs. Likewise for aerobic bacteria absence of oxygen hamper electron
transport chain and kills MOs.
