Pertussis toxin
Pertussis toxin/PTX (a multi-subunit toxin) is a virulence factor (Weiss & Hewlett EL,
1986) which is produced by Bordetella pertussis bacterium (Cieplak et al., 1988).
G- Protein(s)
G proteins are called as; “Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins”. These are the members
of a family of proteins which gets involved in transmission of chemical signals outside the cell,
and can also create alteration(s) inside the cell (Gilman, 1987). These proteins are able to
communicate with numerous hormones, neurotransmitters, and other factors which take part in
signal transduction (Sternweis & Robishaw, 1984).
