Three main difference between DNA and RNA:
· Structure :
DNA : Mostly double stranded polymer having deoxy-ribose as pentose sugar (lacking 2’-OH group). Has the following sugar bases : Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, Thymine
RNA : Usually single stranded polymer having ribose as pentose sugar. Has the following sugar bases : Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, Uracil.
· Function:
DNA in the genetic material that is transmitted to subsequent generations for development and function of an organism.
