AIMS
The purpose of this task is to provide you the opportunity to practice and demonstrate your
understanding of the macroeconomic concepts you have learned in the course topics 8 and 9.
As a professional in the workplace discussing economics, you will often be called upon to
present explanations orally and visually to a group. Therefore, in this assessment, you will be
asked to create a video in which you narrate a presentation of macroeconomic concepts and
then submit your slides.

TASK DESCRIPTION
Overview
Create a narrated (by you) video using MS PowerPoint that explains and illustrates the
impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic and horrendous bushfires of 2019/2020 have had on
the Australian economy.
You will do so by comparing the three main macro-economic indicators – GDP growth,
inflation and unemployment – in June 2020 to a point in time prior to the pandemic and

bushfires (pre-July 2019), then you will illustrate and explain the impacts using the AD-AS
model. Provide references that support your work and submit your slides and a link to your
video for marking.

2. Compare key ecnomic indicators - GDP growth, inflation and umeployment rate in June
2020 to any month and year prior to July 2019.
3. Create a narrated (by you) video, approximately two to three minutes in length,using

b. A graph using the AD-AS model that illustrates the impacts of the bushfires

Marking criteria
Ability to provide succinct, effective definitions of the three main macroeconomic indicators
in such a way that someone with little to no familiarity with them will understand what they
are and their influence on the economy
