Victim Wishes and the Death Penalty. Dennis Earl Bradford committed his crimes against Jennifer Schuett in Texas during a period in which the state engaged in the death penalty. While we can never know, there is a good chance that Bradford would be sitting in prison for the rest of his life had he not hanged himself in jail. What if Jennifer as a victim did not believe that Bradford should remain in prison for the remainder of his life? Should her wishes be heeded by a judge or jury who makes this determination?
