Men and Women: Similarities and Differences
    The differences between men and women can be traced back to the long history recorded in the research literature. The earliest of research in the quest was prompted by the idea that the physiological and biological differences between men and women would mainly define the characteristics and behaviour of each. The theories that have been assigned to each gender vary to a large extent. With the increase of in-depth researches and findings, other determining factors came into the picture. However, there seem to have firm generalizations on male and female which also varies from a culture to another, from society or nation to another (Marco). Among many other theories and explanations such as the biosocial theory, reproductive capacity, the economic and socio-cultural aspects in the society, the attributed gender roles and patterns of socialization have been recorded by researchers as strong determining factors for the behavioural differences between genders (Wood, and Eagly 699). Nurturance
It has been held that girls are more engaged in nonaggressive, and cooperative social play compared to boys who have a higher tendency to aggressive behaviour as well as a higher competitive spirit inside the group (Marco). Since childhood, both are exposed to episodes of social engagements where the boys are involved in dominance, power, and aggression, while girls, on the other hand, are inclined to family and relationships like plays of parenting. It has also been found that the difference between the two genders expand at greatest when children reach the stage of middle childhood i.e., ages between 8 and 10 years (Marco). During these years, while male poses a robust competitive spirited enthusiasm, females are less or more indirect in competition and are more emotionally involved. Relational activities and approaches are common to female. Physical aggression is found to be higher in males than in females. The greater presence of foul language, physically aggressive behaviour in boys and the less aggressive and relationship inclined behaviour of girls is overly stressed by the studies.
