Welcome to your final essay! For this project, you will be able to choose any arguable position that you would like to take, and you'll be asked to defend this position with a researched argument. This argument can be anything, as long as it does not violate the college's policies (i.e., no sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc.) and as long as you can defend it with research. This paper will be a little longer than the others (6 pages instead of 4) and you will be required to use at least 5 sources to back you up, 2 of which must be scholarly (i.e. journal articles, books written by scholars, etc.). You will be shown in the weeks leading up to this essay how to conduct and document said research and incorporate it into your paper. This will be a culmination of the things we've learned about through the semester, so feel free to use previous papers or topics we've covered for inspiration (though don't just rewrite a previous paper to fit this assignment).

Minimum Requirements:

1.) Your essay must be at least 6 pages double-spaced (meaning onto the 6th page), but there is no maximum length.
Works cited pages and title pages do not count toward the page minimum.

2.)You must use 12 pt. Times New Roman text.If you use a different font, I will change it to TNW, and if it no longer meets the length requirement, you will lose points.

3.) You must useat least 5 sourcesin your paper.

4.) Two of these sourcesmust be scholarly work. You will lose points if at least two of your sources do not pass the threshold of scholarly.

5.) You must include a works cited/bibliography page and document sources according to a citation style of your choosing (MLA, APA, or Chicago Style) withboth in-text citations and full citations at the end. This is extremely important.
You will lose points for the following:

  • Missing in-text citations

  • Missing bibliographic citations

  • Bibliographic citations that have no matching in-text citations (i.e., a source is in your bibliography but you don't cite it in the paper anywhere)
