Myth: Virginity applies only to vaginal sex and not other kinds of sex.
The association of Virginity with a woman’s body has its roots in the pre-modern world. It has often used to define a heterosexual woman who has not had vaginal sex. The problem with this assertion is that it presents a picture that is not inclusive of all genders and sexual orientations. Not just women but men and other genders like to define their sexuality within the heteronormative bracket. People of different ages, body types, abilities ascertain the importance of their virginity and whatever it means to them. 
The idea of virginity is often meant as abstinence from sex before marriage. In a lot of countries, this idea also has roots in different cultures and traditions. False perceptions and attitudes have led to the development that remains stunted and buried in the past. The limitation of this idea creates a conflict between genders. Several negative aspects of virginity hamper the worldview of young adolescents who then associate virginity with only a woman’s body that has a vaginal opening. The fact that marriage becomes a tool to unlock virginity instigates the growth of child marriages in a lot of countries. Rape, in a lot of contexts, is one of the consequences of lack of the ability to practice abstinence. Moreover, teen pregnancy and unsafe abortions also encourage the control and surveillance of sexuality of sexes, especially women. Increased Anal sex leads to an increase in STDs. Gender Equality, amidst all this, is heavily impacted. Various myths related to the hymen and bleeding on the first night of the marriage are smooth indicators of an unequal world since it increases the chances of marital rape and also, other kinds of violent acts like wife-battering and emotional abuse. In a lot of communities, the relationship of virginity is also with men who are forced to have pre-marital sex to prove their masculine traits. Activities like virginity pledges and sexual abstinence training are often practiced in religious environments.
