ect that personally cele
ating someone else’s holiday does not signify that we are paying respect to them. However, most of the time, we do not personally cele
ate other’s holidays because we are less aware of it and don’t want to put effort into cele
ating as well. There are many holidays or heritages that are present which are meant for a greater purpose; however, we fail to cele
ate these holidays more often.
13th January is considered as Lohri-Maghi, which is one of the most popular festivals for the Sikh community. However, we hardly spend time cele
ating Lohri. Sikhs are already considered a minor community due to decreasing number of individuals in the community. As per reports, it has been found that more than 25 million Sikhs are presented across the globe (Aujla-Bhullar, XXXXXXXXXXIndia, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Kenya, Uganda, and Malaysia are the major countries where the Sikh community is visible. However, none of the countries have any public holiday for Lohri on 13th January. Though in India, there is a holiday within the state where a major number of Sikh people live together. Being a minor community in the world, the festival could have been cele
ated as we cele
ate X-mas for the Christian community. However, Lohri is often considered an ignored holiday.
15th August is considered a great festival for Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic churches (Seramount, XXXXXXXXXXHowever, the holiday is not cele
ated with much attention. Rather many countries cele
ate 15th of August as due to Independence Day of India. Countries such as USA, UAE, and UK wish independence day for India in any form. However, the date does not get any priority or recognition from people due to the festival for eastern orthodox and Oriental orthodox. In other words, the date is quite ignored for the purpose of the festival.

uary is considered a National Freedom Day in the USA. The day is cele
ated as National Freedom Day due to the signing of the 13th Amendment to the US constitution. The initiative was taken to abolish slavery in the USA in 1865. The initiative was one of the greatest initiatives taken by mankind. However, after many decades the day does not get cele
ated as a national holiday. Though the day was not important for the rest of the world, it was one of the most historical days for the people of the United States. Despite such an important event, the day does not get cele
ated in America either.
Considering an eventful historic day as a non-public holiday does not always signify that we are paying less respect. A public holiday even affects people in several aspects. Especially when people are associated with employers on a daily wage basis, then they won’t be able to go to work on public holidays. As a result, their income will get affected by such a public holiday. Some holidays are cele
ated to recall historical achievements. Hence, every event or holiday cannot be cele
ated by all due to both internal and external factors.
