GLOBAL WARMING ALTERS SOUND TRANSMISSION: DIFFERENTIAL IMPACT ON THE PREY DETECTION ABILITY OF ECHOLOCATING BATS
    MOTIVE
The article aims to examine the impact of the shifted temperature distribution on the ability of echolocating bats on the prey detection by using the climate data of present day and the predicted (or) expected temperature rise of the twenty- first century.
    OBJECTIVE
To present the functional link between the temperature rise and the ability of echolocating bats in prey detection.
To physically determine the maximum distance for echo-based prey detection using the method of sound attenuation.
    MAIN CONCLUSIONS
The study shows that global warming affects the ability of the diverse predator community of the echolocating bats in their prey detection. This will also lead to potential consequences for their interspecific interactions and foraging efficiency.
    IMPLICATION
This change will also cause a community composition change. The global warming will not only have an altered effect on the bats and their...
