Writing Assignment #2 - Investment Assignment

Students will be required to invest $10,000 with the objective of maximizing returns by end of semester. This is an unusually short period of time to invest but will provide a fundamental understanding of the market, compounding of interest, etc.

Students are required to submit a paper (at least two pages) supporting their investment decision. The paper should explain what type of investor they are (risk-taker, conservative) and how they decided to invest their funds. Information to support investment decisions should be provided in the form of industry information, corporate results or forecasts, etc.

If a portion of the investment is in stock, students must calculate the number of shares purchased by dividing the amount invested by the current price per share.

For example, if I wanted to invest $2,000 in a stock costing $2 per share, I would divide the $2,000 investment amount by the $2 per share to come up with 1,000 shares purchased. Be sure to attach support for your stock price to your paper. $2,000 to invest / $2 per share = 1,000 shares

Or, another way to compute: If I want to purchase 1,000 shares that cost $2 per share, I have spent $2,000, or 1,000 shares x $2.

1,000 shares x $2/share = $2,000

Papers are due on April 10.

Good Luck!!

Investment Strategy: Balancing Risk and Reward
I try to strike the co
ect balance as an investor between taking risks and being cautious. I want to safeguard my capital while also increasing my prospective profits. I'll be investing $10,000 across a variety of asset types, including stocks and cash, to attain this balance.
I'll start off by depositing $4,000 into a high-yield savings account. This prudent allocation will offer security against market volatility and a steady source of income. Also, it will act as an emergency fund, ensuring my peace of mind in the event of unforeseen needs.
I'll then make a $6,000 stock market investment. Two distinct stocks with two different risk profiles will make up my stock allocation.
Tesla Inc. is the first stock I have chosen (TSLA). Tesla is a world leader in the manufacture of electric vehicles, renewable energy, & energy storage technologies. Given that the world is moving towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future, I think the company has a significant long-term growth potential. Tesla is well-positioned for future growth because to its market domination, technological innovation, as well as visionary leadership.
Also, I think Tesla has great financials, with a robust balance sheet & impressive sales growth. The company's revenue increased by 52% to $67 billion in 2022 from the previous year. Compared to a net profit of $5.6 billion in 2021, Tesla's net income for the same time period was $12.6 billion.
Tesla has also revealed a number of
and-new plans and initiatives, including the creation of...
