Roger lost one of his kidneys due to an accident as a child. His doctor has advised him to avoid contact sports. Why did the doctor recommend this? What are the advantages of having two kidneys? The main function of kidney is to clear the waste out of body. Kidney e as an organ is used to control the level of electrolytes, acid and water in the body so that the body functions appropriately. Humans are born with two Kidneys but the survivor of the body can also happen with one. When one kidney is lost, the size of the Other kidney increases in order to compensate for the loss of the Other kidney. 
Even though the survival with one kidney is possible, there are many side effects. Following are some of the side effects: 
· High blood pressure. 
· Proteinuria. 
· Reduced glomerulus filtration rate. 
If proper care is taken, then these effects can be managed.
