Executive Order number 6102 was issued on April, 5, 1933 by the then president Franklin D. Roosevelt, imposing by law enforcement forbidding the accumulation of large quantities of gold by the American public, directing them to handover all the gold to the Federal reserve. As stated by Warber, Ouyang and Waterman (2018), the move was taken citing the economic slowdown due to people hoarding gold, leading to further worsening of the depression.
