Question #1 There is data for a disaster at sea; the loss of the steamship HMS Titanic after it hit an iceberg in the Atlantic on April 15, 1912. There is a data set available from Carnegie Mellon University
. _ for 1309 passengers on the Titanic. The variable survive is coded one for survived and zero for perished. There is also data for the fare paid in pounds, £. There is also data for the gender of each passenger, called female and coded one for females and zero for males.

Answer 1:
a. Since the probability of F-statistics is zero, we reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, the regression is
statistically significant.
. The regression equation is
Survive = 0.154012 + 0.001422 Fare + 0.507749 Female
When, Fare = 211.3376, Female = 1, the dependent variable would be
Survive = 0.154012 + 0.001422 x 211.3376 + 0.507749 x 1
= 0.9623
c. The intercept is 0.154012 which is interpreted as when there is no change in the independent variable
(fare and female), the dependent variable (survive) would be 0.154012.
d. The coefficient of fare is 0.001422 which is interpreted as for every additional increase in fare, the
survive increases by 0.001422.
The coefficient of female is 0.507749 which is interpreted as for every additional increase in female, the
survive increases by 0.507749.
e. There are two regression lines fitted against fare because dependent variable is coded as dummy
variable i.e. one or survived and zero for perished. Therefore, the two lines represent survived and
perished.
Answer 1:
The coefficient of Educ is 0.45 which is interpreted as for every additional increase in Educ, the wage
increases by 0.45.
The coefficient of Female is -2.57 which is...
