When the word gambling is mentioned, the first image that comes to one’s mind
would be a person sitting beside a slot machine, trying his hard to win the game, whole day.
He is wasting his time, money and even control over himself. The word is accompanied with
a clear notion of winning, forgetting everything else. The person indulged in gambling
ecomes obsessed about the game and in turn winning. It is a kind of an addiction and
addictions are generally attributed with a negative sense (Peterson, 2009). The families of
gamblers suffer a lot, friendships are deteriorated and the entire life of the person changes.
Researchers say that the countries that are involved in the business of gambling were
observed to have a fifteen percent more rate of bankruptcy than the countries that do not have
involvement in this business. Some people might take up gambling and end up losing some
amount of money in the process. That does not mean that it is the end of this world. The lost
money can also be earned back. But, losing money can have serious implications on the
emotional and economic aspects of the life of the people involved in gambling. This takes a
serious turn when people, addicted to gambling lose their entire savings and their family is
endered hopeless. Sometimes people take loans or mortgage their property to cope up with
the losses. It should be understood that a person can claw his way out of a problem if it has
happened due to losses in business (Derevensky, 2008). Even if a person gets bankrupted in
his business, he can find employment somewhere else. On the contrary, gambling happens to
