Assignment Description
Assignment 1 is divided into two parts. Part A focuses on the literature review about network
management tools and Part B is about the Nagios and its comparative analysis with available
modern tools.
Assignment 1- Part A: Network Management Tools
For this part of the assignment, write a report on exploring four network management tools
y reviewing the literature including research papers and book chapters. This part of the
eport must:
• Explain tools with their features
• Discuss network bandwidth analysis using each tool
• Provide a recommendation in terms of socio-technical context for a particular tool
ased on the analysis ca

Assignment 1-Part B: Wireshark
Each student will need to work on an assigned set of website and capture packets on their
home network. The students are assigned the set of websites based on their MIT ID from Table
1. After capturing packets from the websites the students are required to submit their reports
on the Moodle with screen shots of packet capture and the required graphs. The set of
websites include a website of a news channel and a website for live streaming. The students
are required to capture packets of images and audio from the news channel website and
capture packets from the live stream website while streaming for 10 minutes on their home
network.
The students are required to analyse the network performance for the assigned websites:
1. Time Sequence Graph
2. Throughput Graph
3. Load Distribution

Introduction
In this report we will work with the Wireshark. The Wireshark is used to capture the packets over Internet and find out the source and destination addresses of the different sites. For this task I have selected a news channel and the packets were captured for 10 minutes. In the following report we will see multiple graphs and analyze the network performance. The network was connected with the Wi-Fi and the Wireshark was able to capture packets for the given address. Filter was also applied to only capture information regarding the given news channel.
Network Performance
For analyzing the network performance, we can see the following graphs. This graph is to show the round Robin graph for the given timestamp. It shows the roundtrip time for the given IP address, and it has three interfaces. It shows the time on one side and other side shows the round trip time in milliseconds.
Round Robin
Time Sequence Graph
As we move further, we can see the time sequence graph for the given website. The following graph is further time sequence of the given IP address. This graph is also for three interfaces, and it shows the huge difference between sequence numbers. it shows that sequence number increased drastically, and it became constant after a particular time in seconds.
Throughput Graph
The following is the throughput graph for the given website. It shows the segment length on one side and time on another. We can see a huge variation in the throughput during a small duration of the time. There was a gap between the two graphs at different times.
Load Distribution
The following is the load distribution for the website. To find out the load distribution we have to select the statistics and in that we can select the HTTP option. It will open a dropdown which has the load distribution option, and we can select that. It creates a new pop up and we can save it as the text format. The following is the load distribution for the given website which shows topic rate, count, average, minimum value, maximum value, rate, percent, burst rate and burst start.
