Introduction
The article “Slavery and freedom: The American paradox” by Edmund Morgan is a secondary source material which is used to study the slavery in American history. It provides the insight about the development of revolution among the country alongside of slavery and
utal labor system. The article emphasizes on the focus of the historian. It stated that some historian traced the racism and oppression in history, whereas other historian focus on liberty, democracy and challenges faced by common people in past two decades. Colonial historian consider that Americans are in great debt of the revolutionary leaders and supporters who fight for the democracy in country. The challenges faced by historian is that use of sources to interpret the history or use of familiar maneuver in explaining the American revolution will not justify the entire events that occur at that time. It was difficult for the colonial historians to explain the liberty and dignity exhibited by the leaders towards the American revolution. This article states the two different perception of the colonization that faced by the Americans. The following essay evaluated this article and analyze the thought process of the writer.
             Structure of this secondary source
The structure used by Morgan in this article is a reflective structure whose opening statement provides the focus of historians while writing about the history of America. It provides the direct quotation from the statements made by the historian in their research statement. This paper provides the personal views of authors alongside the other historian on the issues. The two contrasting perception is provided about the Britishers who initiate the colonization in America. The author is trying to understand how Britishers become successful in formation of colonies. For example, Britishers claimed the land of America despite the lack of resources. They need to take the help of other countries in conduction of the tobacco business and resources to form the colony. On contrary, author argued that despite the Britishers themselves believe in practicing liberty in their own country and do not engage in slavery, then how they get the courage to formed colonization in other countries. This research article is very thorough in providing the detail examples to develop the complete picture in mind of the audience. It takes the examples from the research articles of other historians who have expertise in the area. For instance, while giving the argument about the perception behind the Englishman in forming colonization despite of practicing liberty in their own country.
