1. Gender Prejudice
Despite major national and international steps that have been taken against gender equality, gross gender inequality still displayed. Across the globe, the extent and causes of gender inequality are distinct. Feticide and rape consists of significant crimes against women. Illegal abortion is also an addition to the list, where a female member of a family is killed because of the belief that the family has been dishonored.
As mentioned by Brinkman et al., the truth of women's work around the world is not that we duck each other to see who could first make a partner: its exploitation, low wages and vulnerability. Sexism is bad everywhere, as well as in boardrooms, but to better the lives of the majority of women, feminism must survive, or it is really nothing. In the opinions of a functionalist, the society is a dynamic structure, in which all the components function collaboratively to cultivate stability and unity.
Arendt et al. have explained that the division of labor is used by a systemic functionalist view of gender inequality to interpret predefined gender roles as supplementary: women take care of the household while men do something for the family. In the opinions of conflict theory, gender can be defined as the urge of men to seek control and retain power over women, which dominates the latter to their disadvantage. Like any other community with an advantage of money or power, men battled to retain their dominance over resources, political and financial power for example.
2. Racism
Marginalization and discrimination of people based on color exist in our society because of many white people being favored by a socially created racial hierarchy. As stated by Dovidio et al., there are many forms of racism and mostly, its key bases are ethnicity, color or race. It involves bigotry, hostility or bias aimed at others.
Yes, it still exists, its super basic in several respects. Children grow up by learning whatever was taught to them in their childhood through the society, in which they have been growing up and the culture, which they have followed. Hence, parents should teach their children consciously, so that their children do not grow up as a racist. In fact, if children were not deliberately taught by parents not to be a racist, they would be.
The first three factors analyzed are categories, which organize individuals into different groups; factions that cause allegiance between groups and rivalry between groups; and segregation that hardens racial attitudes, preferences and beliefs.
3. Various Kinds of Families and Their Impact of Child Rearing
There are six different forms of family and each has a special family dynamic. The times are gone when nuclear family members in the United States are regarded to be the norm of mother, father and one or more children. Different family forms are not only prominent these days, but also more tolerated than they had been in the past.
A. Gender Roles Instilled by Family
The press, the family, the community and culture are affected by gender norms. Children grow up amongst the norms of behavior and gender-specific society in family structure, normal play habits, close friendships and the littered social jungle of academic life, in addition to genetic maturation (Hester).
