What does it mean to be a virtual leader? Analyze the skills needed to be an effective virtual leader and research the type of culture required to successfully support and lead a virtual workforce. What would a leader need to do to create the type of culture that effectively supports a remote workforce overseen by remote leaders and managers?
In a paper of at least 1,250 words (exclusive or title, abstract, and references pages) and citing at least two scholarly sources in addition to required readings,
- Describe the primary differences in roles and responsibilities of a virtual leader and those of a leader who oversees a team working in person.
- Assess what additional or different roles and responsibilities a virtual leader has because their team is working remotely.
- Outline the skills of an effective virtual leader.
- Determine what different or enhanced skills virtual team leaders need that may not be required of leaders who oversee a team working in person.
- Analyze the challenges inherent in leading a virtual team.
- Propose solutions to address these challenges.
- Evaluate the aspects of organizational culture that support teams and team leaders who work remotely.
- Describe what aspects of culture support remote workers.
- Explain the aspects of organizational culture that support virtual team leaders.
- Identify potential barriers to creating an optimal organizational culture to support a remote team and team leader.
- Explain how different leadership styles impact effective support of a virtual team.
- Defend a leadership style that is optimal for overseeing the work of a virtual team.
The Optimal Virtual Leadership paper
