Career Development 
Career development is the process where employee progresses through a series of stages, 
each characterized by different set of developmental tasks, activities and relationships. In the 
comprehensive market environment like today, talented managers are valuable assets for the 
company. These employees in turn, are always trying to make best of their career opportunities. 
These employees in turn, are always trying to make best of their career opportunities (Phillips, 
2005). 
The top three career development activities that an organization should provide to its 
employees are providing regular counseling to all the employees encouraging them to take newer 
and higher roles in the organization and the opportunities that would best suit them, the 
expatriates should be replaced by host country managers after a certain period of time. This 
process should certainly take place when the local staff has been trained fully and there is a 
probability when new overseas staff can replace the existing expatriates one by one,
