The journal article “To have and to hold: modelling the drivers of employee turnover and skill retention in Australian organizations” is a study that seeks to establish the relationship between various factors on employee turnover and skill retention. The article is based on a comprehensive study of different factors that have affected turnover rates in Australian organizations.
The Various Variables used in the Journal article
Many variables were considered in the study in order to draw effective conclusions from it. From these, only the most relevant were chosen. The dependent variables in the study were employee turnover and skill retention. These formed the focus of the study. Multiple independent variables were used for obtaining accurate results. ulence, competitive intensity, organisational innovativeness, and compensation. The effect of a change in these variables was studied upon employee turnover and skill retention, the dependent variables.
The entire study was conducted under certain controlled conditions. The number of organizations under study was restricted to 2500 out of which a little over 300 responded. Moreover, all of these organizations were large-scale organizations. These formed the control variables in the study. In addition, moderating variables in the form of skill levels of employees was used to study the effects on each skill group. Mediating variables such as industry type, organizational ownership and locations were also included in the study.
