For this assessment, you will be required to undertake extensive research, answer with as much information as possible, providing reference to data, graphs or other information. In addition to the essay question below, you should aim to incorporate your understanding of economic concepts and theories introduced in the first 5 weeks of the course and their application to world situations.
Written submissions should be approximately 1,500 words in length, professionally presented, and formatted for essay style.
Font should be 12pt times roman, 1.5 x line spacing, at least 2cm left margin and all work appropriately referenced using Harvard AGPS Referencing system.

1. Research prices for a product that interests you in a country of your choice.
2. Consider various theoretical concepts presented in chapters 1-9 and how they are applied including the impact of government/industry intervention (or lack of) has impacted on the demand/supply for that product
3. Discuss some pros and cons of government intervention with reference to your chosen product.

• No tables of data, no graphs – just written expression using formal English absent of colloquialism and jargon

• Newspaper articles are for background reading only and information contained in the newspaper articles is not to be cited or used for the essay unless it is used as an example only to demonstrate analysis of theory applied in the essay and if so, the article must be cited.
