Struggle for Liberties/Civil Rights in the United States
Major Events/Points
Major points in the struggle for civil rights and civil liberties in the United States include freedom of speech, assemble, religion, and the press. It also includes freedom from unreasonable research and seizures, and cruel and unreasonable punishment. Moreover, it comprises the right to a jury trial, right to keep and bear arms, freedom from quartering troops in your own home, and right to control your own property (“US Patriotic Act,” 2006).

For example, USA Patriot Act, which permits information gathering on a vast scale including internet activity, financial transactions, school records, telephone conversations, and criminal investigations among others (Anderson, et al, 2008, p. 1).
Major Acts/Laws that have Attempted to Assure Liberties and Rights for All
The first amendment of the US constitution has attempted to protect all people in the country from freedom of association and assembly, speech, religion, and the press. Besides, the amendment has attempted to protect all people against unlawful discrimination, giving individuals constitutional rights to be treated justly by the government whenever loss of property or liberty is at stake as well as freedom from unwa

The Fifth Amendment to the U.S constitution has over the years attempted to protects the rights of all...
