Goal setting and planning is really important and it is the backbone of the firm. It is an enduring process that has
needs you critical evaluation so as come up to a result that lasts longer and stays profitable for the firm. Goal setting
and planning is a management decision that needs a team practice so as to na
ow down the results
(Burke,2013).Some of the steps that are involved in goal setting and planning for the management are as follows: -
Set the Goal for the management (Burke,2013).
Make plans for the management
Start working over the management plan (Burke,2013).
Stay focused with the plan.
Reach the goal and complete it successfully (Burke,2013).
Since we have already mentioned all the micro steps involved in goal setting and planning we shall discuss all the
steps one by one now.
SET THE GOAL FOR THE MANAGEMENT
Being the first step as the layout for the management it is really important that the goal setting should be done in a
proper way. The goal should be result oriented, it should be futuristic, and it should be clear and should be able to
connect easily with the management team. It is really important that the goal setting steps being designed should be
non-ambiguous. It should not have any dual meaning so that there lays no confusion in implementing them. This is
the only reason why setting the goal being the first step lies to be the most important step in deciding the future of the
firma and the future of the firm as well (E
ahim , Niroomand & Kuzgunkaya, 2014).
MAKE PLANS FOR THE MANAGEMENT
Post deciding upon the goals the next step lies in making plans for the management. The management has to plan the
steps that may be required so as to decide upon the steps that have to be followed in order to accomplish the goals
(E
ahim , Niroomand & Kuzgunkaya, 2014).Making the plans for the management has to be trimmed so that
the steps can be followed properly and the goal looks out to be approachable. The planning has to be divided amongst
3 steps that are the short term plans, Medium terms plans and the long term plans. Short term plans refers to the
intermediate plans that has to accomplish within a short span of time and it helps in finding the direction of efforts
and productivity. The medium term and the long term goals are followed post the short term goals are accomplished
successfully.
START WORKING OVER THE MANAGEMENT PLAN
The management staff needs to be working sincerely over the management plan and they have to be working hard
over it. It is really important that the management should divide the work amongst themselves and should be able to
achieve their target in due respect of time. The management has to decentralize the authority and make their people
participative so as to gain their valuable feedbacks from time to time (E
ahim , Niroomand & Kuzgunkaya,
2014).
STAY FOCUSED WITH THE PLAN
It is really important that the team and the entire management should be focused over the plan and they should not
e deviating from the main highlight of the plan. Unless the team is not able to perform completely the plan would
not be able to be performed. It is really important that the entire team should be focused over the plan and should be
able to make them working (E
ahim , Niroomand & Kuzgunkaya, 2014).
REACH THE GOAL AND COMPLETE IT SUCCESSFULLY
The last step is to reach the goal and complete it successfully. The goal can only be achieved with rigorous practice of
the employees leading to an effort based result. The goal has to be completed within a certain amount of time by the
management team and their employees so that they can reap the benefits at the year end (E
ahim , Niroomand &
Kuzgunkaya, 2014).Post completing the goal the management shall evaluate the efficiency of the team and the plan
as how successful was their efforts.
DISCUSS MANAGEMENT BY OBJECTIVES
Management by objectives is a result driven oriented program/approach in which the management defines the
objectives that has to be achieved by them in a certain period of time and the goals and resources are also defined by
them. The process of the management refers to the idea of dealing and controlling with the efforts of the people in
their team and successfully molding towards them achievement of the goals. The objectives of the manager and the
management should be planned in such a way such that they are able to access them easily and again it is based on
practicality so their achievement doesn’t remain a myth. It is really important that the objective being drawn by the
manager has some practical essence to it and again he should be clear about the steps that how he should be able to
achieve it successfully (Flood, 2014).
Some of the functions of the management may include the following steps: -
1) Planning
2) Organizing
3) Controlling
4) Directing
5) Staffing
PLANNING: -This is of the most important step in the process of the management as the manager has to define the
plan that needs to be followed by the entire unit in order to gain and achieve results. The manager has to be swift with
the planning part as the improper planning may lead to devastating results. The planning needs to be properly done
and has to be result oriented hence it is the duty of the manager to keep all the facts and ratios of success handy with
them (Flood, 2014). The planning is the foundation step of any project and the management needs to be really
carefully while doing that.
ORGANIZING: - It refers to the second most crucial step that has to be performed by the manager which is known
as organizing. It is the step where the manager needs to decide the resources and has to a
ange them as per the
equired cycle. It is really important that the organizing of the resources should be proper so that management do not
face any difficulty in achievement of the goals. The management needs to maintain a proper relationship with their
supplier so that the pricing can also be strategized. It is really important that the business should organize all the
esources in the initial stages so as to operate successfully (Flood, 2014).
CONTROLLING: - It refers to the process of establishing a control over the management. It is really important that
the management should decentralize the authority so as to establish proper control over all the departments. The
controlling over the departments can only be established when we can have clarity in terms of the roles of
departments and the people. It is really important that the management should be able to establish a clear line of
control over the activities and should be easily able to decide and define the roles and the movements of the staff. This
shall give a clearer picture in terms of the management of the organization and the would be able to decide the roles
and the responsibilities of the people (Flood, 2014).
DIRECTING: - It refers to helping the entire unit so that the management can achieve its objectives. The manager
helps the subordinates and make them work in the right direction so as to achieve their tasks. The manager has to be
efficient while performing his duties so the organization is able to perform diligently (Flood, 2014).
STAFFING: - Staffing refers to the crucial step of identifying the requirement of the right set of the candidates and
putting them onto work. It is again important for the firm to find the right set of skills that may be required for them
to perform. Until and unless the people are not able to identify the right kind of the talents it is not at all possible for
them to achieve their tasks on time (Flood, 2014).
The manager has to perform number of duties. It is really important that the right set of conduct should be identified
and performed by the manager so as to achieve their targets on time.
Some of the objectives of a good manager would include the following points: -
 A good manager shall be concentrating over wealth maximization of the business so that they earn more and
e able to distribute more (Flood, 2014).
 Price control would be the second major objective of the manager as they shall be...
