The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh 
My visit to the Museum of Modern Art last week was a memorable one. I was 
mesmerized by the collection of the artworks in the museum and was specifically amazed by 
viewing the painting “The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh. The painting was completed in 
the year 1889 when the artist was in a midst of a terrible mental deterioration.  
The ambience of the museum was impeccable and it provided me with a perfect 
opportunity to go through the painting properly and analyze it deeply. Vincent van Gogh’s 
painting “The Starry Night” is Oil on canvas measuring 29 x 36 1/4" (73.7 x 92.1 cm) (“The 
Starry Night: Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890)”, n.d.).
