The employment-at-will as a practice should be protected by various laws, primarily
ecause, more often than not, there have been cases (and there will be) when the
employees have been wrongly asked to leave the organization, than for rightful
eneficial
easons. If there are no protection laws, it would not only give the employer the right to
fire an employee, resulting in cutting his source of livelihood, it will also ensure that
employers have a much higher power and can indulge in any practice – illegal and
immoral. A lot of ill-practices within the organization could never come into light by the
whistleblowers. Plus there would be lack of co-operation and collaboration, lack of
confidence in the setup & lack of belief and optimism in the organization’s vision,
eliefs, ethics and processes – all this will anyway result in poor productivity of the
employees. For an organization’s success, it has to value the contribution from the
employees and it should give them a sense of employer and employee being at far – and
