    In this unit, we have studied the ISO/IEC 17025 approach to quality management. Critically evaluate the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 against the three principles above.

· ISO 17025 are the standards that need to be in compliance for the laboratories. Specifically it is for competency in testing and cali
ation laboratories. They indicate both the general and process requirements of the laboratory to remain competent and for effective cali
ation.
· Discussion of relevance of Deming principles
· The first principle is to create constancy of the purpose and for improving the products and the services accordingly. – ISO 17025 is proposed for improving the efficacy of the laboratories in cali
ation and improving the same continuously and so is included with the first principle.
· The second principle is about changing the philosophy to new, mean improving. ISO standard included the perspective towards quality through a novel and comprehensive approach.
· The third principle indicates to stop reliance on inspection alone, (rather need to consider the total system change for the better). ISO standard proposed
· The fourth Principle is to focus not just on price ratter total quality management should be the priority. Further working for integration of the single supplier will contribute towards long term relationship and better outcomes. ISO 17025 subcontracting clauses included focus on the quality aspects.

· Eighth Principle is about driving out fear by encouraging effective and two way communications. Clause 4.2 and 4.3 speaks about the type of communication systems necessary in the organization for effective communication.
· Ninth principle is about co-ordination and integration of the staff. Clause 4 overall works for achieving the integration of the staff.
