By the virtue of this essay, I have performed extensive research on the New England colonies and would explain the differences as well as similarities between the Southern colonies with the New England colonies. Deep diving into the history of American colonies in the 1700s, these colonies largely grew into three distinct regions namely Southern region, Middle and New England as each had very different cultural and geographical characteristics that constitute the overall development of economy, community as well as the relationship with one another (Main, Gloria L., and Jackson T. Main. “Economic Growth and the Standard of Living in Southern New England, 1640-1774”).
In the beginning relationship of New England colonies largely concentrated on marine life and developing equipment to harness it like boats, fishing nets, etc. Gradually the colonies of New England expanded as the economy started to boom with the inclusion of farming as revenue generating source, the construction of industries, and mills. This specific geography had far rich agricultural land and soil with vast coastal plains that made it very viable for plantations like rice, tobacco, and indigo. Although many large plantations were captured by wealthy planters and small farms were captured by substance farmers who raised stocks and nurtured the farmland with very less resources to trade in the market. Furthermore, a larger section of the colonies were African men/women who were slaves and worked as bonded laborers on these farms. Primarily in southern colonies, the environment su
oundings were perfect for small- to...
