Hi Marcus,
Leaders have the authority to make real changes in a company environment. Though the conception of managers as leaders holds merit, a manager’s role is only as high as the position allows. Essentially, managers can only hold the amount of influence over others per positional responsibility. According to Brookfield (2010, p. 7), anyone can lead a team and have equal opportunities to influence an outcome. Managers, like subordinates, can be more readily replaced so it has become all the more imperative for managers who “deal with people involved in the processes” to take the initiative to ensure daily activities are on schedule.
Thanks for the discussion, Marcus.

Leadership and Management Responsibilities
Within the organizational setting, the leadership and management responsibilities critically vary. In the case of executing visions, the leader has the role of setting the direction as well developing the vision to be adhered to by the rest of the team members. However, a manager is responsible for setting plans for the execution, which includes the preparation of budgets. Furthermore, the leader develops a strategic plan that acts as the pathway to achieve the vision (James, XXXXXXXXXXOn the other hand, the manager is in charge of developing processes and timelines for the execution of each element. When seeking to advance human growth and development within an organizational setting, the leader’s responsibility is to influence collaboration and communicates the outlined visions, values, and missions (James, XXXXXXXXXXThe manager in this instance delegates authority through organizing the staff members by limiting their choices. Additionally, the leader acts as a motivator and encourages the staff members to achieve the desired goals. However, the manager examines results and puts in place control measures to mitigate challenges that may limit objective attainment.
Different Sets of Responsibilities that Would be Assigned to a Leader and a Manager
I expect a leader to be assigned the responsibility of influencing others within an organization. This duty requires an individual who is steadfast to help others by showing them the desired direction to follow. I also expect a leader to be assigned the role of creating the pathway for the followers to adhere to. To effectively execute this duty, one has to be competent in people’s skills (Algahtani, XXXXXXXXXXOn the other hand, I expect a manager to be given the planning duty within an organization. This task calls for a critical understanding of processes and adhering to the set standards. Furthermore, a manager is assigned the duty of directing varied organizational elements. To execute this responsibility, one has to understand the established vision and be informed about the desired direction. Therefore, between the two, leadership seems to be a natural fit for me since I possess such skills.
