Chapter 9:
1. Price elasticity of demand measures change in demand for a good with respect to change in price level of that good. A good is said to elastic when people respond more to the change in price. In the case of planet fitness the gym is seen as elastic. In such a case people will demand to go planet fitness as they reduce the monthly membership price.
2. Cross price elasticity change in demand for one good due to change in price of another good. Cross price elasticity for planet fitness or crush fitness is positive indicating PF or cf is substitute for Orange theory or Gold’s Gym. Decrease in price for PF or CF leads to increase the willingness of subscriber to switch from high cost gym to low cost one.
