Teresa Harris worked as a rental manager for Forklift systems from April 1985 to October 1987. Post quitting her job she filed a sexual harassment suit against Charles Hardy, the president of Forklift systems and alleged that he created a hostile work environment for the female employees at the organization with his offensive sexual comments and actions.

As in the words of concurring Judge Justice Scalia, the factors that contribute to abusiveness do not come with a clear definition of how much of each is necessary or which one is a determinative factor. She also mentioned that the court does not need to test whether work is affected but whether the working environment has been altered. And to judge this, there is no better test than to look the statutory language used at work. I strongly agree with Judge Scalia's opinion and feel that the court took the right decision to provide direction to future cases.
