Assessment for this unit
BSBPMG637 Engage in collaborative alliances describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to enable a program manager to engage in collaborative alliances. It includes identifying opportunities and forging alliances with other organisations to facilitate attainment of program benefits.
For you to be assessed as competent, you must successfully complete two assessment tasks:

Information for students
In this task, you are required to demonstrate your skills and knowledge by working through a number of activities and completing and submitting a project portfolio.
You will need access to:
· a suitable place to complete activities that replicates a business environment including a meeting space and computer and internet access
· BSBPMG637 Simulation Pack if you are completing this at your RTO or if you completing the assessment in the workplace, documentation associated with collaborative alliances (e.g. policies and procedures or agreements) and stakeholder feedback on how collaborative alliances were managed for a program

You can do this for a real program at your workplace if this is relevant to you, or you can use the simulation pack provided for this unit. If you use your own business, make sure you can access documentation relevant to collaborative alliances (such as policies and procedures or agreements) and feedback about how collaborative alliances were managed for a program.
Speak to your assessor to get approval if you want to base this on your own business.
Vocational education and training is all about gaining and developing practical skills that are industry relevant and that can help you to succeed in your chosen career. For this reason, we are giving you the choice to base this project on your own business, one you work in or a familiar with, or you can use the case study provided. This will mean that you are applying your knowledge and skills in a relevant, practical and meaningful way to your own situation!
You will be collecting evidence for this unit in a Project Portfolio. The steps you need to take are outlined below. Before you begin, complete page 4 of your Project Portfolio and read through the requirements of Sections 1,2 and 3 in the Project Portfolio to familiarise yourself with what must be done.
Collaborative alliance opportunities.
Complete Section 1 of the Project Portfolio to:
· Review organisation and program objectives, as well as policies and procedures that relate to collaborative alliances and feedback that you can access about how collaborative alliances have been managed within a program.
· Use environment scanning techniques to identify opportunities for collaborative alliances, as well as potential collaborators and that align with organisation and program objectives.
· Evaluate identified opportunities for collaborative alliances, as well as potential collaborators.
· Initiate and develop relationships with potential collaborators.
Submit Section 1 of your Project Portfolio to your assessor.
