3. As part of the preliminary information gathering process conduct a brief literature review on the problem area. In writing your review, note that with a literature review the researcher critically analyses what has been written and relates it to the specific problem he or she is addressing. In other words, literature reviews are not about passively accepting and communicating the views of other writers. Employ at least five reference articles in your review.
4. Define the specific research question(s) for the general problem.
5. Identify a qualitative research method (in-depth interviews, focus groups, etc) that could be used to address the identified problem. Justify with reasons, your choice of method.
6. Using the qualitative method discussed in the previous task, develop a qualitative research plan detailing how you would conduct the research that addresses the research question(s).

The research plan should address, at least, the following:

  • What type of issues/questions should be explored? If using focus groups, prepare the moderator's guide; if using in-depth interviews, prepare the interview guide.
  • How many groups, interviews or case studies would you recommend?
  • How will you select the sample of research participants?
  • Location - i.e. where should the interviews /groups be conducted?

Executive Summary
For any organization the employee are the key to success, as they are the primary sources of an organization through which the company can achieve its goals. But for an organization the primary concern about employee is to retain them in the company for longer tenure. The company when hires any employee invest a huge cost in recruiting and training of that employee, but if any employee leaves the job this could affect the company about five times of his salary. If the attrition rate of company is high this could cost a company a huge amount of money and energy which could also affect the profitability of the company. In this article the main focus is on employee retention in 7-Eleven Inc., Australia due to the wage theft scandal wherein the workers were getting half the legally defined wage per hour. This study will help us understand the major factors of employee leaving the job in the company. And also to find out what were the other factors which were involved in the low rate of employee retention in the company.
Introduction
7-Eleven Inc. is an international chain of convenience stores located in several countries. In Australia the company is located in Melbourne. The chain in 1946 was renamed as before that it was known as Tote’m Stores. 7-Eleven is mainly known for its large-sized drinks, other products of the company were coffee, sandwiches, salads, freshly made foods, bakery products, products of dairy, juices and many other similar products (Macdonald, Bentham & Malone, 2018). In Australia, the stores are situated in the areas which are mainly occupied for business. Shops in residential areas often work as petrol stations, and most of them are controlled and work as
anches with central management. 7-Eleven decided to launch the new stores in Western Australia in April 2014, starting with 11 stores which were planned to get started in the first year and a total of 75 stores set up in five years. As of January 2018, the country has 675 shops.
Problem Statement
The motivation behind this research was the business issues that were ongoing in the company 7-Eleven Inc. Four Corners program of the ABC and Fairfax Media reported on the employment issues of some franchisees of 7-Eleven in Australia in August 2015 (Ferguson, 2017). It was found that the employees working in the company were paid very less as compared to their actual wage rate which was A$24.69 per hour (Ferguson, 2017). On the company’s papers it was mentioned that employees were getting the legal wage rate but their working hours were mentioned half of their actual working hours according to which they were getting paid half. It has also been reported that workers who have been bound legally to work at nights, on weekends, overtime hours, and public holidays have usually not being paid loadings and penalty rates (Cli
orn & Wright, 2018).
Research Objective
The primary goal of this research is to understand that a better organization culture or leadership could be a solution for the company that is fighting for the confidence crisis within the customers and most importantly the employees. It is been reported that many workers out of the staff were the international students who were allowed to work for only 20 hours as per their visa. The research objective would be to understand that if the company would have adopted the legal method of paying the wages to its employees it could have benefitted the company in terms of workers loyalty, better retention rate of employees. Last objective would be what steps company should take to get back the employees’ trust and confidence.
Literature Review
Asekun (2016) explicit that the reward for a vocation done by a specialist in an affiliation comes as incidental portions from a business which is by and large demonstrated in a work contract, it isn't equivalent to piece remuneration, where every movement, hour or other unit is paid autonomously instead of on a convenient premise. Monetary benefit is a very important factor which motivates any individual. It is very obvious in various findings that the wages are related to the employees’ satisfaction, despite the fact that there is no unmistakable agreement on whether the connection between pay fulfillment and occupation fulfillment is reliant i.e whether pay fulfillment and employment fulfillment is subject to authoritative result, for example, job performance. The complete idea of wage system is that the workers earn a salary or wages so that they can meet up their expenses, pay their bills, as the international students were doing in 7-Eleven to earn the expenses for their studies, but the reality was whatever they were getting was half of the amount they should get, due to which their expenses were not meeting their requirements. That was the main reason which initiated the idea of this research. This article thus help the researcher in understanding the level of association or relation between the job satisfaction and the pay satisfaction among the employees which will help the company in understanding a very important role of wages in employee retention (Alhmoud & Rjoub, 2019). Also this article will help in understanding that the employees will leave the job just on the basis of their dissatisfaction with their wages. It is important to understand this aspect as the maximum employees in 7-Eleven were the international students who were working to meet their study expenses and have a strong reason of working despite their dissatisfaction in job.
Kossivi, Xu & Kalgora (2016) stated that employee retention is about maintaining the employees in the organization by encouraging them and motivating them for a longer duration. As demonstrated by Workforce Planning for Wisconsin State Government (2015), retention of employee is "a...
