Develop or redevelop an equity and/or diversity and/or inclusion focused mission statement for an organisation of your choice.
Your mission statement should include the following sections:
Cover Page (not included in word count)
Table of contents (not included in word count)
Introduction (about 150 words)
- briefly introduce your submission by explaining which organisation your equity, diversity and inclusion mission statement is being written for, and why you selected this particular organisation.
Organisation (about 200 words)
- provide a brief overview of the organisation you have selected.
Theory and Practice (about 850 words)
- define equity, diversity and inclusion, explain why actualising these concepts is important in organisations. Provide examples, make appropriate links to theory and practice, and support your views using relevant quality research sources.
Mission Statement (about 850 words)
- provide your actual new or redeveloped mission statement. This should cover the organisational definition of and mission regarding the achievement of equity, diversity and inclusion. Note: you are permitted to combine this section with the theory and practice section if you prefer to, but do please use plenty of sub-headings to break the section up.
Conclusions (about 150 words)
- briefly wrap up your submission in a final paragraph.

Important Notes:
- Please listen to the week 4 recording from the lecturer which overviews the assessment task and the marking criteria. You are also highly recommended to attend the week 5 'live' online interactive session which focuses on the learning topics relevant to this assessment.
- Please remember to support your views using relevant research including that from quality practice-based sources, relevant peer reviewed journal articles, and subject sources such as the prescribed text.
- Please be careful regarding deadlines since late penalties apply for all assessment deadlines in this subject. Note that small extensions are available up until the deadline has passed.
- Section headings are required for this assessment as are visuals (e.g. graphs, tables, and diagrams, but not images or pictures). Note that headings and visuals (as well as any direct citations) are included in your word count calculation.
- It is fine to write your actual mission statement in the first person, (e.g. 'we will ...'), however the rest of your submission should be written in the third person.
- Please only submit a MS Word file for assessment in this subject (e.g. please do NOT submit a PDF file through EASTS).
- Please don’t forget to include a cover page, a table of contents and a reference list when submitting your file through EASTS. You are also welcome to include an appendix, though this is not a marked section. Please note that these are not included in the required word count calculation. Please stay within 10% below to 10% above the word count to avoid the possibility of negatively impacting your marks.

This assessment task will assess the following learning outcomes:

- be able to develop and rationalise contextual solutions to selected human resource issues or challenges for specific organisational environments.
This assessment is about providing you with a chance to reflect further on the content and issues covered in topic week 4. The assessment affords you an opportunity to practice and demonstrate your research, analysis, critical thinking, writing, and referencing skills. The assessment serves to allow you the opportunity to create an important HR or organisational document..
