The Australian Association of Social Workers contemplates a certain code of ethics that underlines the important role of the Australian Association in promoting and advocating social justice. Fatima has to work for six months without any payment in the companies which will have a severe impact on her financial requirements and I will not be able to pay her rent on time. Therefore, the policies must contemplate some aspects for the international students who are undertaking placements such that they are not exploited financially by the companies.
Unfortunately, international students are unde
epresented in society, and hence there needs to be strong advocacy in terms of certain drawbacks that they face while studying a
oad. This is because they are forced due to the lack of professional networks in foreign countries. Students like Fatima cannot capture valuable insight into Australian work practices. Further, they do not have any assistance or support during the placement from their family which affects their performance which is due to the pressure that is created by works in placement and studies. It is consistently aggravated as students need to undertake part-time work while studying like Fatima.
In such circumstances, it is expected from the university to provide more support to the international students such that they can meet their career expectations. University administration can be lenient about the placement expectations. This can be an effective support for the international students to contemplate they are work as well as career. Moreover, the university can make collaborate with certain companies such that they do not exploit students by making them work full time without pay (Ge
egergis et al., 2018). This needs to be advocated by effective legislation such that companies are not exploiting the students for free.
The companies are taking advantage of the visa requirements and University placement norms by making them work full time without any payments. It is obvious from research that placements are not the only factor that provides experience to the students. It is not the only aspect that is viable to educate students. Practical knowledge is significant yet theoretical and attending classes is more significant to develop concepts that can be hampered due to tough placement schedules offered by the company.
