Role and Responsibility of Fire Services during Blackout for 24-72 Hours 
During blackout for 24-72 hours, fire services have a significant role and responsibility to 
manage the tragedy effectively. One of the significant roles of fire service providers during 
blackout is to support the activities of medical services providers to manage critical 
infrastructure of the society (Jones, 2010). Fire service providers distribute ice and refrigeration 
facilities to the medical service centers, so that vaccine and other medicines can be placed safely 
to ensure the uninterrupted supplying of medical facilities to the community people (IFAC 
Report, 2003).  
It is the duty of fire service department to provide full assistance to the emergency 
services and planning to provide protection at prison. Fire service providers can fulfill the needs 
of water of community people during blackout crises and also transfer emergency services such 
as medicines, food, etc. to the people at the hybrids towers. Moreover, fire service providers also 
have a role to protect nuclear power plants and labs because these contain dangerous material 
and due to blackout the chances of their blast increases as the temperatures of these labs might be

On the other hand, it is the responsibility of fire service providers to ensure the supply of
