This is the assignment:Meet with an entrepreneur: Give 1 example of an entrepreneur you personally know or heard of. Explain how their idea was generated, how it serves a need or fills a gap, and what kind of trend did they take advantage of, how they managed the finances, difficulties they faced, and tips for success & lessons learned. Introduction
This is an interview with the entrepreneur Faisal Albassam, the Founder of Fetch Neighbor which is also known as Odaz (Odaz, 2016). He is a 25 years old Saudi guy who started an on-demand delivery service in the year of 2016. Faisal Albassam graduated in International Business from Wichita State University in the United States where he cu
ently lives and works. The Following questions have been asked to the entrepreneur and answered by him. This gave me an insight of how the idea was generated and how it has managed to reach to the people successfully.
Fetch Neighbor is an on-demand delivery service that delivers everything from mouth-watering delicacies from the restaurants and cafes to things of everyday necessities from the grocery stores. Something that makes Fetch Neighbor different from its competitors is their services, so Odaz delivers everything from to the doorstep from restaurants, laundry pickups, grocery stores or any store that a customer asks for (Odaz, 2016). So each demand made by the customer is delivered by the efficient service providers of the company such as Uber within stipulated time while nominal delivery charges are made applicable. It is the only delivering company in Wichita Kansas that delivers everything starting from food to house hold items. Fetch Neighbor was recently developed and re
anded to Odaz which has better and new features to satisfy their customers.
Questions
1) How, why and when the idea was generated? 
The ides of Fetch Neighbor (Odaz) was generated in Faisal Albassam’s mind during the class of Entrepreneurship at the Wichita University while he was working on a project related to the class. According to him, ‘he got the idea of starting his own venture from the Entrepreneurship class that he undertook in the Wichita State University’. He also mentioned that his Professor was his source of inspiration in doing so as he received constant support from him throughout the execution of this plan.
2) How does it serve a need or fill a gap in the market? 
Fetch Neighbor (Odaz) is a convenience service provider despite all the competition in the market the company excels in providing services. It serves the need or fills the gap in the market by providing complete services to the customers at affordable prices and helps them save time to do other important tasks. In order to retain in the market Fetch Neighbor also ensures to provide speedy and timely services to the customers for anything that they demand.
3) What kind of trend did you take advantage of? 
Faisal Albassam, the Founder of the company told me that, “they took complete advantage of the prevalence of online marketing and technology”. The shift from the traditional shopping to online shopping has lead to behavioral change in many people. Buyers now prefer to order things online and save time for other important tasks and Fetch Neighbor helps them in doing so by providing them convenient and affordable services.
4) How did you manage the finances? 
Finances are the most important aspect of any business and for starting Fetch Neighbor (Odaz), the company founder had started with a small capital of 700 U.S dollars from his own personal funds. He further mentioned that, “the business grew gradually and helped them generate stable cash flow”. In the short duration if two years Fetch Neighbor has stabilize itself in terms of funds.
5) What difficulties did you face?
The founder told me that there have been many challenges in the starting and executing of the business. The most common challenge encountered by the company was the tough competition from existing big companies. Faisal Albassam mentioned, “That the competition was very tough as there were many big giants in the market who were providing similar services, it was challenging to start the business in the beginning amidst the intense competition”.
6) What are some of the tips of success that you can tell us? And what are some of the lessons that you have learned?
The journey has been very challenging and exciting for Faisal Albassam, according to him he encountered more experience than he ever thought of. Some of the experiences shared by him included:
1. Choosing a right partner: The founder mentioned that it is extremely important to choose a right partner for the business. Many people do business in partnership either for financial support or for manpower and nothing is wrong in this. But according to Albassam, "people must be extremely careful in choosing their partners as he or she can directly impact the working of the business". A good partner can be of support even in the hard times and would always offer positive advice while a bad partner can be the major reason for the downfall of the business.
2. Proper Planning: Proper planning is extremely important for running the business, since there is a lot of competition in the market therefore it is essential to plan well in advance. Albassam insisted that for running a business one must have foresight. One should be mentally prepared for both losses and victories and must make adequate a
angements for the possible and indefinite challenges.  
3. Be a Risk Taker: Business sometimes can be very unpredictable which means that the level of taking risks is higher in business world. It is therefore necessary that every entrepreneur should be mentally prepared for risks which can come in various forms.
Lesson Learnt
Albassam states, ‘that this venture is his
ainchild and he has learnt lot of lessons during his journey. He stated, ‘ that a person must not associate for partnership with friends or family as this often ruins the personal relation and this directly impacts the reputation and the functioning of the business. He also insisted that one must never make short term plans, they must instead make long term plans so that they have enough time and resources to execute such plans. The long-term planning will also give enough time to an individual to understand the business and the clients in a better way.
